About
I’ve been practicing psychotherapy for over 25 years.
I have a master’s degree in clinical social work from Columbia University, and a master’s degree in philosophy with a concentration in philosophy of religion and existentialism from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Before studying social work, I volunteered for several years at the St. Jude Catholic Worker House, one year of which I spent as a live-in volunteer. I helped to provide services and support to homeless women and children living in the house, and general hospitality to those who came to its daily soup kitchen.
After receiving my social work degree, my commitment to community-based service continued for 10 years through my work with the seriously mentally ill at the Jewish Board’s Bronx REAL Continuing Day Treatment Program, where I served as a psychotherapist, supervisor, intake coordinator, and field instructor to therapists in training.
I completed a four-year postgraduate psychoanalytic training at The Washington Square Institute, and I am licensed in New York State both as a clinical social worker and as a psychoanalyst. I have been in full-time private practice in the Union Square area since 2008.
I am also a Certified Advanced Practitioner in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, a body-oriented talk therapy that integrates Eastern practices of mindfulness, relational and developmental perspectives in psychoanalysis, and body-centered interventions drawn from recent findings in attachment, neuroscience and traumatology research.
When I am not working, I enjoy spiritual study and meditation, running, yoga, cooking and cleaning, napping, reading, and sharing life with my beloved wife!
