FAQ
What is a typical therapy appointment?
Appointments are 45 minutes long, scheduled one or more times per week depending on your specific needs. Therapy is most effective when you regularly attend appointments, arrive on time, and cancel only in an emergency situation.
How are cancellations handled?
When you must cancel, I request that you give me at least 48 hours (two full business days) notice. Because I reserve a regular appointment time for you each week — as I do for my other clients — I am rarely able to fill a cancelled session.
For cancellations with more than 48 hours notice — provided this occurs infrequently — I will not charge you if we are able to reschedule your appointment.
If you cancel within 48 hours, you are responsible for the full session fee, unless it is a matter of medical urgency involving illness or injury. Insurance does not cover the charge for a missed or cancelled session.
What is the vacation policy?
Please provide at least two weeks notice prior to taking vacation. I will not ask you to make up vacation time unless your vacations start interfering with the continuity and regularity of our work.
How do I pay for appointments?
I ask that you settle your balance with me the first session of each month for sessions held in the previous month, unless we agree otherwise. I accept payment by check, Venmo and Zelle.
Which insurances do you accept?
Except for The New School custom network by Aetna Student Health, I am an out-of-network provider for all insurance companies.
If you have out-of-network coverage, your insurance will cover a percentage of my fee after you satisfy your out-of-network deductible.
I will provide you with all the information you need to submit an out-of-network claim with your insurance company. If you are unfamiliar with this process, I am happy to assist you with the first few steps.
Before we meet, I suggest you call your insurance company to find out your outpatient mental health benefits. Some important questions to ask:
– Do I have out-of-network coverage?
– What is my annual out-of-network deductible?
– What percentage of the reasonable and customary fee for individual psychotherapy is covered?
